Okay, okay. I know I’m probably the ~2e9th person to notice this, but I’ve finally learned what it means to be Rickroll’d. Thanks to xkcd’s blag for pointing this out. More specifically, it was a comment from “William” containing the admonition:
do not follow this link.
i post it only for rickrollin’-other-people purposes.
it’s design is so evil!
[link censored for safety; seriously, don't go there]
Thanks, William. But really, I should have known better.
As for what brought me to these straights in the first place, it was a recent xkcd comic and attendant blag post, describing the identity of a seemingly random line of piano music featured in the comic. (Bonus points to anyone who actually knew what is was.)
This is yet another example of xkcd creator Randall Munroe’s incredible attention to detail in his execution of the comic, not to mention the further reaches of his small internet empire. Check out The Best Thing and you’ll begin to see what I’m getting at. I’ll suffer the arrows of fanboy-ism on this one; all things considered, I think I’d go to the mat for xkcd. I mean, c’mon; this guy’s got his own ballpit.
The comic referred to in the Wikipedia article is, by the way, this one.
edit: Now that I’m looking around, I realize that this phenomenon isn’t as unusual as I had imagined.

Rickrolled by Randall Munroe.
